Ka’ōhao School Shade Structure

Ka’ōhao Public Charter School was the first official PTG sun safe school. Located on the sunny island of Oahu, they graciously allowed us to use them as Guinnie pigs as we worked out the ins and outs of our program. Without hesitation, the school leadership at Ka’ōhao School dove head first into promoting sun safety to their school and community. They wrote newsletters, developed an extensive sun safety policy in their schools handbook, held educational assemblies, and even participated in national events such as Don't Fry Day. They are truly leaders on the forefront of the sun safety movement that is beginning to sweep across the United States. Due to their tremendous efforts to provide sun safety materials and education to their community, PTG awarded Ka’ōhao School with a large shade structure that will cover their kindergarteners for years to come. This effort would not have been made possible without the help of Pacific Recreational LLC and the many volunteers that helped us along the way.
